Once upon a time in a Convo

It all started with a simple convo request to custom size our bare tree decal. With the size decided and the custom text added, a custom listing was created. The decal was shipped out. And today I was thrilled to find a couple pictures in my email along with a lovely note.

"Thanks again for sharing your talent! We LOVE the way the playroom turned out. Honestly, the pictures don't do it justice. We have given your name out multiple times to people who have commented on how adorable your work is.
Thanks,
Susan"
Days like today are the reason I love my job!!!!

Day one and no broken bones!!!

You can't imagine how grateful I am to begin this post with the title "no broken bones". This adventure all started last week when I took my daughter to our storage unit and dug out the box marked roller blades and other summer stuff. I was looking for something to keep her busy and remembered putting away my older sons roller blades from years past. A quick trip to target for a new helmet had her all ready to give it a shot. Since we got home she's been practicing a couple times a day and asking when I was going to go roller blading with her. So against my better judgement I again opened the box of roller blades and other summer things and pulled MY roller blades out. ( I don't think they've seen the light of day in 13 years!) But heck it's like riding a bike right??? once you know how, you never forget. Well I can honestly say, it's a bit harder then I remembered, those darn little wheels roll really, really fast, and the whole stopping thing, well that little brake at the back of the skate is just about useless. I'm sure all the smiling, laughing faces of the people going by weren't actually laughing at me!!! But we're home again and as stated in the title with "no broken bones!"

Wienerschnitzel Recipe

Wienerschnitzel

Ingredients:
· 1 pound veal scallopini
· 1 teaspoon salt
· 1/8 teaspoon white pepper
· 2 tablespoons lemon juice
· 1 teaspoon paprika
· 1/4 cup flour
· 2 eggs, beaten
· 1 cup dry bread crumbs
· 3 tablespoons butter
· 2 tablespoons peanut oil
· 1 lemon, cut into wedges
Preparation:
Place veal scallopini between sheets of plastic wrap, cut side down, and pound until pieces are about 1/3" thick. Sprinkle each with salt, pepper, and lemon juice.
Combine paprika and flour on a shallow plate. Place beaten egg in shallow bowl. Place bread crumbs on another shallow plate. Dip veal pieces into flour mixture, shake off. Then sip into egg mixture, then place in bread crumbs, pressing to coat. Place each coated piece on wire rack.
Preheat oven to 250 degrees F. In large skillet, melt butter with oil over medium high heat. Cook one or two coated pork pieces at a time, until browned and tender, about 2-4 minutes per side. When each piece is cooked, place on plate in oven to keep warm. Repeat with remaining veal pieces, then serve with lemon wedges.
Delicious served with roasted potatoes and a fresh salad.

Mack's New Headboard

I put together a decal for Mack to use as a headboard in her room. I love the little heart in the top.

The decal is made from a 23"x 38" back piece cut with a small heart opening along with 2 -4" x 36" posts. I love the way it gives the bed a center.

working on a new project for Mack's room

We've done some shopping and little by little her room is transforming into "her" space. I'm working on painting/art piece for her. I've done alot of craft/art projects over the years but I'm not an artist and I'm a bit unsure how this new venture will turn out but if nothing else it will be fun. I picked up a just a simple square canvas and hope to use the fabric she picked out for her quilt as an inspiration.

Recipe for Fried Ice Cream

Well, it's not exactly a recipe but it was a huge hit with the entire family. Quick and easy to make with little mess or cleanup. My kind of dessert.

I took scoops of vanilla bean ice cream formed into a ball and rolled them into a mix of crushed frosted flakes and cinnamon. One they were coated with a nice layer of the mix, I popped them back into the freezer to firm up. For dessert I just pulled them out drizzled a bit of honey and a spray of whipped cream and served them up.

Quick, easy and delicious!

What a MESS

I truly hope these turn out tasting better then they look. I decided to make fluffy taco's for dinner tonight and for dessert I wanted to try fried ice cream. I've never made the fried ice cream before and couldn't believe how hard the ice cream was to work with, it melts so fast. I was popping the balls of ice cream in and out of the freezer trying not to end up with one melted pool of ice cream when I was finished. I think I'll try to hide them under the whip cream and hope they taste so good noone notices they're not round.
